Alec Pierce talks Cincinnati offer

Alec Pierce - Glenbard West

Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard West three-star receiver Alec Pierce remains one of the top uncommitted prospects in the state of Illinois. He recently picked up an offer from the Cincinnati Bearcats. Caught up with Pierce to see where things stand after his latest offer.

“Coach Denbrock stopped by practice and offered. I was excited to hear the news,” said Pierce.

Denbrock is currently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Cincinnati. Prior to arriving at Cincinnati, he coached at Notre Dame. Denbrock is a stout recruiter and wouldn’t have offered Pierce if he did not him flourishing in the Bearcat offense.

Pierce is familiar with current Bearcat commit Ben Bryant from Lyons Township. They both play in the same conference.

“I’ve played against Ben a lot and trained with him this offseason. He’s a really talented quarterback.”

Pierce has been clocked running a sub 4.5 40-yard dash. His speed along with tremendous make him an ideal target for Bryant. Together the duo could put up some big numbers if he decides on the Bearcats.

With the IHSA playoffs in full swing right now a visit will have to put on the back burner. Glenbard West is one of the few schools in Illinois that does not play home games on Friday nights. It is a school tradition to play on Saturdays because they do not have lights.

“I’m hoping I can get down for a visit sometime after the season.”

As of now, feel that Cincinnati is in a good position to land Pierce if they make him a priority. He is also hearing from Big Ten programs such as Illinois, Northwestern and Minnesota.
